SerieAGoal.it is a registered journalistic publication: Testata Giornalistica SerieAGoal.it · Authorisation of the Court of Rome no. 97/25 of 02/10/2025. Editor-in-chief: Emanuele De Scisciolo.

For privacy matters you can use the Privacy and personal data channel or email redazione@serieagoal.it. For general enquiries, the contact form remains available.

2. Who this policy applies to and where the data comes from

This policy applies to readers, registered users, people who enable favourites or notifications, applicants/contributors, and anyone who contacts the newsroom or support.

Data is provided directly by the user, generated through use of the service, or received from a provider selected by the user, for example Google Identity when “Sign in with Google” is used. Football data relating to players, coaches, teams and competitions comes instead from editorial sources or sports-data providers and is processed as part of SerieAGoal’s information/journalistic activity.

3. Categories of personal data processed

  • Browsing and security: IP address, user agent, session identifiers, timestamps, application logs, errors, anti-abuse data and technical information about the device/browser.
  • Account: display name, email, hashed password, date of birth, grammatical gender, profile picture where present, roles, account status, registration/access dates and preferences.
  • Google login: Google identifier, name, verified email and, where available, profile picture supplied by Google after the user’s choice.
  • Favourites and functional personalisation: favourite teams, players, competitions and matches, competitions pinned/highlighted, theme, locally stored search history and other preferences requested by the user.
  • Notifications: preferences, categories, technical push tokens/subscriptions, device/browser status and delivery data necessary for the service.
  • Predictions: individual editorial predictions, selections, reference odds, status/result and performance statistics needed to maintain a verifiable history.
  • Editorial collaboration: application data, contact details, date of birth, city, any registration with the journalists’ register, proposed content, review status, management notes and data necessary for any professional relationship/payment.
  • Support and rights requests: name, email, category, subject, text, reported URL, case status and any information/documents the data subject chooses to provide.
  • Communications: data needed for service emails and, only where there is an appropriate legal basis, any optional promotional communications with an unsubscribe option.

4. Purposes, legal bases and whether data is required

  • Performance of the service or steps requested by the user: registration, authentication, profile, account recovery, favourites, notifications, access to predictions, support and spontaneous applications.
  • Legitimate interests: security, prevention of fraud/abuse, integrity of prediction history, technical diagnostics, defence of rights, service continuity and strictly internal measurements required for management.
  • Legal obligations: tax/administrative compliance, requests from authorities, obligations connected with the registered publication and retention required by law.
  • Consent: non-essential cookies or tools, external content, analytics and advertising where the law requires a prior choice, as well as any optional communications.

Fields marked as required are necessary for the requested function: without them, that function cannot be provided. Optional functions remain separately usable or disableable where technically possible.

5. Data and content that may become public

Published articles carry the author/contributor byline in accordance with the editorial organisation. Published editorial predictions and their results/statistics are intended for public viewing.

Do not include unnecessary personal data about third parties in predictions, applications or support requests. Closing an account does not automatically remove content that must be retained for legal obligations, protection of rights, editorial integrity or prevention of manipulation; each request is assessed under the applicable law.

6. Processing for journalistic purposes

SerieAGoal carries out journalistic activity and may process personal data concerning people who are the subject of news, reporting and analysis in accordance with the applicable rules, the principles of essentiality of information, relevance and proportionality, and the professional rules governing journalism.

Requests to correct, update or challenge editorial content may be sent through the Corrections and editorial content channel; where provided by law, privacy rights are balanced against freedom of information and the obligations of the publication.

7. Advertising, CMP, analytics and external content

SerieAGoal uses or may use Google AdSense for monetisation and, where enabled, Google measurement tools. For users covered by European rules, advertising and measurement technologies that require consent are governed by the CMP configured on the site and the related consent signals.

Advertising providers may receive or use identifiers, cookies, browser/device data, IP address and information about interaction with advertisements in accordance with the purposes and providers shown in the CMP. SerieAGoal does not sell lists of its users’ personal details to advertisers.

Embeds or external content (for example videos or posts embedded from third-party platforms) may generate requests to the relevant provider; where required, they are loaded only according to the user’s choice for external content.

8. Recipients, processors and transfers

Data may be processed by technical providers strictly necessary for hosting, infrastructure, databases, email, security, notifications and maintenance. Depending on the active services, these may include Google (Identity, CMP, AdSense and/or measurement), push/browser services and API-Sports/API-Football or related CDNs for football data/media.

Applications: data submitted through the form is processed within SerieAGoal’s editorial workflow to assess and manage the application.

Where a provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, the transfer takes place according to the provider’s role and the transfer mechanisms provided for by applicable law. Specific information on active advertising providers is available in the CMP.

9. Retention periods

Data is retained for as long as necessary for the relevant purpose, taking into account legal obligations and the protection of rights. In particular:

  • session cookies: for the browser session;
  • privacy choice slr_privacy_consent: up to 180 days, unless a new version is issued or consent is withdrawn;
  • technical logs evidencing privacy choices: up to 24 months, without storing IP addresses or user agents in those logs;
  • technical device classification slr_device_class_v2: up to 30 days;
  • competitions pinned on the Home page sg_home_pinned_competitions: up to 12 months;
  • theme, search history and other preferences stored in the browser: until the user deletes them or the browser removes them;
  • push tokens: while the subscription remains active, until revoked or no longer valid.

Accounts, requests, applications, editorial content, predictions and administrative documentation follow retention periods consistent with the relationship, the relevant purposes and any statutory or defence periods. Applications that do not lead to a relationship are normally retained for no more than 24 months.

10. Your rights and how to exercise them

Where applicable, you may exercise the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

Send your request through the Privacy and personal data channel or to redazione@serieagoal.it. We may request reasonable information to verify identity where necessary to prevent improper disclosure.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) or the competent supervisory authority.

11. Minors and betting-related content

For consent-based processing in the direct offering of information-society services, independent registration is available from the age of 14 under the applicable Italian rules; below that threshold, the authorisation required by law is necessary where applicable.

Sections displaying predictions or odds are for information/editorial purposes only. Gambling for money is restricted to adults: SerieAGoal does not accept bets, open gambling accounts or handle deposits or withdrawals.

12. Profiling and automated decision-making

SerieAGoal does not make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects on the user. Rankings, filters, favourites, prediction statistics and functional suggestions are used to organise the service.

Any advertising personalisation by ad-tech providers depends on the choices made in the CMP and the rules applicable to the provider.

13. Security, breaches and updates

We adopt proportionate technical and organisational measures to protect accounts, sessions, databases and application flows. No online service can, however, guarantee zero risk.

This policy is updated when processing activities, features, providers or regulatory requirements change. Material changes are made identifiable through the updated date and, where necessary, through a new request for a choice/consent.
